What is a Hunter Pace?

Riders go out in pairs on a well marked course following instructions found throughout the course that simulate a fox hunt. The instructions give riders key information about what is happening that moment on the hunt. It is up to them to decide what pace they should be riding at. The optimum time is set by our Huntsman who rides the course earlier in the day. The team that comes closest to that time wins!

Why Register For A Hunter Pace?

HUNTER PACE RULES

Please arrive 45 minutes prior to your start time.

All riders must be mounted and registered with the Starting Gate at your specified start time.

The Hunter Pace is NOT a race. An optimum time has been set by one of our Joint-Masters, Kris Baker, MFH.

The time closest to her time wins.

The course simulates a fox hunt. It is marked by (orange) trail tape– instruction boards are posted at various  points describing what is happening at that moment on the hunt – set your pace accordingly. Please do not deviate from the marked course. Always adjust your pace depending on the terrain and conditions.

Please respect all Landowners’ property. WALK when asked and ride HEADLANDS (stay to the edge of the  field in single file) when asked to headland. We want to be invited back!

Be respectful and courteous to all competitors, volunteers and spectators.

Pass with utmost caution by giving  loud and precise verbal notice. ‘Call out’ intention to pass. Confirm your pass request has been acknowledged. Pass in a safe area at a walking pace.

Be cautious of traffic while on the road and ride single file.

At the end of your ride, report back to the starting gate and announce your team number – your time will be  recorded. You MUST cross the finish line as a team.

We all understand the need to pick up anything on the ground around our trailers before leaving and while on the Pace course.

Please remove manure and loose hay before leaving.

Results will be announced and ribbons presented as soon as possible after the final team finishes the ride. The terms and conditions of the Acceptance of Risk Form you have signed must be followed. A Parent or Legal Guardian must sign for a Junior participant (under 19).

Have fun and enjoy your day of “hunting”. Tally Ho!

Join Us. Belong!
