The Young Riders Hunt started with a cloudless sky and smiles bursting from ear to ear.
Our Annual Pony Club/Young Riders Day is one of the most important Hunts of the year. Our Members look forward to introducing Drag Hunting to young riders.
The Pitcaple North/Forestell Hunt is a perfect fixture for our annual young riders invitational event because it has a bit of everything for riders to experience and enjoy: beautiful vistas, woodland trails, rolling hills, and open fields where riders are able to see and experience the hounds working throughout the Hunt.
It was wonderful to see the young riders start in second field and watch their confidence grow as the Hunt went on, with some requesting to move up to first field.
Master Robin Hall shared that she started her first Hunt as a young rider and is still with the club decades later, with her daughter as the third generation to be in the Hunt.
Watching the young riders take it all in stride, working with their horses, was a reminder of what it is like to try something new and to find that sweet spot where horse and rider are one.
Everyone did so well, from those walking and trotting to those who cantered. Congratulations for looking smart and riding with confidence.
On behalf of the Board and the Masters, thank you to the Members who rode in the field that day. Each one of you did your part to help the young riders (and parents) feel comfortable, welcome to the Hunt. Your kindness and generosity are what make this day special, and we are grateful to every one of you.
It was a pleasure to ride with the young riders and get to know them at the Hunt Breakfast. Certainly, the privilege is all ours. We hope each of you will come Hunt with us again soon!

Opening Meet — September 20th, Elmira
It was a beautiful day to open our Fall Season, and the Wellington-Waterloo Hunt turned out in force to celebrate it. Riders and ground help alike came out in healthy numbers, and from the first cast the energy was unmistakable — hounds keen for the scent, riders equally keen to follow, and smiles all around.
Our Huntsman and hounds were on top form, holding the scent from start to finish. Our Whipper-Ins kept a vigilant eye throughout, making sure the field ran smoothly and safely.
Following the Hunt, members and guests gathered for a splendid breakfast.
Thank you to the van Lenthe Family for providing the mains and hosting the breakfast to the members who rounded things out with complimentary sides.
None of this happens without the work that goes on behind the scenes.
Thank you to Kris and Judy for planning the hunt, liaising with landowners, and checking the land beforehand; to Judy for preparing the map and the scent; to our landowners for opening their fields to us; to Robin and Hunter, and collecting and hauling the hounds. And to Katherine for managing and the hounds before and after the Hunt.
