October 12th,

Lexington Farm
Thanksgiving Day Hunt

Fall weather is unpredictable. On Sunday it was teeming rain all day at Lexington Farm. On Monday the sun pushed away the clouds and we experienced another fabulous day on horses riding to hounds.

Members and guests enjoyed picturesque vistas in open fields and stunning fall colours as we rode through the woods. How fitting for the day we give thanks.

The Huntsman, hounds, and staff worked as a synchronized team keeping the Hunt moving. The Hunt was an equestrian’s dream.

The Thanksgiving Day breakfast was more than a meal. It embraced what this club is all about: members, friends and family coming together to share the stories of the day, laughing and enjoying a special kind of community.

Well done, everyone.

September 27th - Listowel

A Stellar Day in Listowel

Our first Listowel Hunt turned out to be a beauty. The land opened into wide fields, and from the saddle we could watch the Huntsman and hounds at work for the entire run.

We owe our thanks to the host landowners, Mary and Troy, for inviting us to ride their land. Our clever Foxes, landowner Mary and Bonnie, laid the scent and gave the hounds a realistic drag to find and follow. The hounds had the run of the season!

Afterward, Marcia and Dave hosted a lovely breakfast beneath the trees, where we gathered in the shade to close out a wonderful day.

What a life! Friends, horses, and a feast to be remembered for a long time.

Fall Season Hunt Recaps

Opening Meet — September 20th

Elmira

It was a beautiful day to open our Fall Season, and the Wellington-Waterloo Hunt turned out in force to celebrate it. Riders and ground help alike came out in healthy numbers, and from the first cast the energy was unmistakable — hounds keen for the scent, riders equally keen to follow, and smiles all around.

Our Huntsman and hounds were in top form, holding the scent from start to finish. Our Whipper-ins kept a vigilant eye throughout, making sure the hounds ran smoothly.

Following the Hunt, members and guests gathered for a splendid breakfast.

Thank you to the van Lenthe Family for hosting the breakfast and providing the mains. Thanks to the members who rounded things out with complimentary sides.

None of this happens without the work that goes on behind the scenes.

Thank you

  • To Kris and Judy for planning the Hunt, liaising with landowners, and checking available land beforehand; to Judy for preparing the map and the scent; to our landowners for opening their fields to us;

  • To Robin and Hunter, and collecting and hauling the hounds. And, to Katherine for managing and the hounds before and after the Hunt.

  • To our invaluable road whips and photograhers.

Thanks to Foxes - Maria and Patrick for laying the drag.

A wonderful start to the season — and our thanks to everyone who had a hand in making the day happen.
